Young Exeter Promotions Gig Press Release

The Holiday Plan: Hailing from Indie Label Safety Second, the first thing to note about the headliners ‘The Holiday Plan’ is their raw vocals. Seeming to focus on the music a lot more than their image which is a rarity these days. A blend of punk grunge and indie fills my ears. Ripping it up in High Wycombe is certain. After a hiatus, the band are back together and looking stronger than ever, I wouldn’t be surprised if a tour follows this intimate headline show you’d be a fool to miss this!

Of course the support bands are something to shout about as well!

Agent Buzz: Arriving from Oxfordshire, the PJ’s vocals will draw you in, melodic and beautiful. Taking in similar influences as the headliners they’re live tracks definitely set you up for a good time.

The Monacles: Teenage Angst is expressed thoroughly through their track ‘Conflict’, local boys show their youth in the vox department but their enthusiasm and passion overshadows that, along with their ability to drive the guitars right through your body. Let some steam off while you watch these.

Small Machine: They list their influences as ‘their influences, their instruments and their noise’, couldn’t have put it simpler. Be interesting to contrast their live performance to their studio versions. They stand out from the rest of the bands with their blending of quick quirky numbers with progressive style songs,

Leskye: This is for fans of punk acts such as the Gallows, Cancer Bats and Comeback Kid. Touring relentlessly in July, they will definitely be bringing their A-game as this is one of the first of the tour, be there early to catch them before they escapade onto bigger tours.

Seasons : Hello pop-punk, gang backing vocals work in the way bands such as New Found Glory, The Blackout and even Lostprophets pull it off. They would fit nicely on the warped tour, they’ll have you bopping along and singing along after a few listens.

A night of five simply fantastic bands if you’re into the punk/grungey styles, all take an influence from Nirvana I would say, so if that’s your thing (which it should be) check these guys out live!

Aster L (Mini-Review)

Aster L
Trying to describe Aster L’s music is as hard as it comes, with mixtures of pop, rock, prog-rock and even dance there’s one thing for certain the melodic vocals and the hooks will keep you ‘hooked’ for hours after first hearing one of Aster L’s tracks. I guess it’s like Marmite?!

Upon hearing the demo for ‘ending in Hollywood’ and the preview of the upcoming single ‘Skyscraper’, I was instantly captured. What sets him apart from other pop-punk/indie/rock bands is that he can’t be pigeon holed, that and the fact he doesn’t have a fake whiny American accent, yes he is actually from California!

(Ending in Hollywood)
I fell instantly in love with this track as soon as the music kicked in, his deep voice juxtaposes perfectly next to the high guitar and when it meets us the keyboard too, making you feel like you are enjoying two different pieces that intertwine perfectly. It is as soothing as a lullaby yet as punchy a prodigy track, combining both elements of a good song, the ballad (a sing-along) and the beats (a dance)

Art of the Ruin - Review

The first track "breathe" nosedives straight into the killer action, this is no exception for the rest of the song, the deafening but somehow self-craved vocal sound of their singer keeps you begging for more during the lyrical gaps. This is a non-stop 3 and a half minutes of pure energy, power and aggression and my oh my isn't it good? Check it out for yourself you won't be dissapointed. You can't escape the drive, with a drum fill at 2.30 which to me sounds like heaven and hell incorporated, a guitar riff to die for and the backing vocals which help to cement this as a piece of musical brilliance, fantastic onto to track 2!

"Eyes wide shut" couldn't be better surely? I do disagree, if you are a really of heavy rock/metal gigs then you'll forsee standing beside a mosh pit whilst the guitar encapulates your adrenaline before kicking off. Keeping a similar musical feel to it's predeccesor, this too is a rather noteworthy track, just under 8 minutes for the two tracks, definately worth checking out. I am looking forward to some more for 'The Art of the Ruin' boys!
